Terrace and balcony surfaces are nowadays covered with a variety of materials, with everything from tiles to natural stone slabs to wood coverings. Optics and utility have now taken on an equally high value among consumers. At the same time, the terrace should be comfortably accessible and the flooring should be as easy to care for.

These WPC decking boards, which have only been available on the market for a few years, can all be easily covered. The term WPC stands for Wood Plastic Composition, a wood-plastic composite produced from a wood and polymer compound. So WPC decking offers several advantages, which we would like to explain to you in more detail below.

Advantages of WPC boards at a glance

Advantage No. 1 – ecological aspect:

All plastic components used are subject (no recycling materials), which in turn high weathering resistance and dimensional stability of the individual is usually the first use decking guaranteed. Although they are completely recyclable when not in use!

Advantage # 2 – great color choice:

WPC Decking boards are not only available in natural wood colors for a few months, but can also be bought in special colors such as peppy red, blue, green, yellow, etc.

Advantage No. 3 – Planks are easy to lay:

WPC decking boards can be laid very easily, since they are usually offered in tongue and groove design (click method). In some cases even a laying without additional substructure (floating laid) takes place, as far as it is a flat, slightly beveled terrace floor. For any unevenness of the terrace surface, however, the manufacturer also provides a wide variety of compensation accessories, such as rubber pads, substructure rails, leveling swivel feet and the like.

During installation, the individual panels are also only processed with conventional wood tools for sawing and drilling. The first and last plate of a covering is always fixed by screwing it to the substructure.

Tip:

Laying the boards on direct soil (wetness factor) is to be avoided in principle. In order to minimize or completely eliminate waterlogging on a terrace, you should also insert corresponding drainage elements in the complete terrace covering or underlay the covering with an approximately 10 centimeter thick, very fine gravel / grit surface. In turn, it is best to underlay this grit with a fleece, in order to prevent unpleasant weed growth between the planks.

Advantage No. 4 – beautiful finishes available:

The specialist trade continues to have numerous finishing edges for freely laid terraces, in order to preserve a shapely appearance. However, you should take into account that you must straighten the actual finishing edge of the laid planks until the end of work with a continuous cut (using a circular saw).

Advantage No. 5 – easy-care material:

A big advantage of the WPC decking is that it can be easily cleaned and cleaned with cleaning agents approved by the manufacturer at any time without losing its shape and / or color. For most plastic decking, a high-pressure cleaner can even be used for heavy soiling!

In addition, high-quality WPC planks no longer require any additional care, such as brushing or glazing. This is because the extremely barefoot-friendly rubbers (observe the quality seal) – regardless of the wood look or color you select them – are crack-resistant, frost-resistant and bleach-resistant.

Advantage No. 6 – no infestation with mold or pests:

In addition, an infestation with mold, pests and fungi is almost impossible with WPC decking boards .
